Child Safety Standards and Prevention Policies (CSAE) — pomelo

At pomelo (available on the Google Play platform), the safety, respect and protection of our users — especially minors — are our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment free from any form of exploitation, child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), harassment or inappropriate content.

1. Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Child Abuse and Exploitation

pomelo absolutely prohibits the transmission, storage, facilitation or promotion of any child sexual abuse material (CSAM/CSAE), as well as any harassment, grooming or exploitation of minors. Any attempt to use the platform for these purposes will result in immediate and permanent expulsion of the user and notification to the relevant authorities.

2. User Control and Safety Mechanisms

To ensure that voice interaction (Walkie-Talkie PTT) remains exclusively between trusted individuals, pomelo implements the following direct control tools:

• Mutual Consent Connection: No user can send voice messages to another without a prior friend request explicitly accepted by the recipient.
• Direct User Blocking: Any user can block another at any time (from the friends list, incoming requests or profile). Blocking immediately interrupts the voice connection (WebRTC), removes the friendship link and prevents any future contact attempts or new requests.
• Blocked List Management: Users can manage their list of blocked people and reverse blocks at any time from their account settings.

3. Reporting and Moderation System

pomelo provides its users with simple tools to report inappropriate behavior:

• In-App Reporting Tool: On request cards and in the menu of each contact you will find the “Report” option. The user can specify the reason for the report with an explanatory text.
• Automated Progressive Sanction System: To prevent abuse, the platform uses an algorithm that counts reports from distinct users:
  • System Warning: Generated after substantiated reports to warn the user about their behavior.
  • Temporary Suspension: Access to the platform is blocked for 3 days after repeated reports.
  • Permanent Ban: Definitive and irreversible expulsion from the network upon reaching the maximum threshold of reports from distinct users.
• Real-Time Enforcement: Sanctions immediately suspend active sessions, socket connections and PTT audio transmission.

4. Cooperation with Authorities and Safety Contact

pomelo complies with local and international child safety regulations. If we detect or receive reports about child sexual abuse material or serious criminal conduct, we reserve the right to report the relevant information to law enforcement and competent international institutions (such as NCMEC – National Center for Missing & Exploited Children).

We review all reports concerning child safety with priority and take action without undue delay. Where required by applicable law, we will cooperate fully with authorities and preserve relevant evidence in accordance with legal requirements.
